Our goal is to help everyone enjoy entertainment without fear.
An enjoyable movie for most can turn into a nightmare for those who have phobias.
This site was designed to warn those dealing with phobias.
This site strives to eliminate any triggers for the most common phobias.
Generic terms and code words are used for the most common phobias and are broken into generic categories like "reptiles" and "bugs".
No images will be used that contain reptiles, bugs, or needles. Images dealing with heights & claustrophobia are also avoided.
The most severe phobias seem to exist within the reptile & bug categories. Severity of phobias differ from person to person. Some people don't like seeing images of reptiles or bugs while some others can't tolerate hearing them discussed. To make this site accessible to all, code words are used for the most common phobias regarding reptiles & bugs.
In addition to not seeing phobic images, the most severe phobias in the bug and reptile categories will use code words and will appear as a toggle button.
If you are not bothered by seeing the actual word, you can click on the gold background to reveal the actual word.
You can click on the red background to see the code word again.
Here is an actual example of a toggle button for the reptile category:
No recap, review, or warning will contain spoilers for the show or movie that is being reviewed.
Movies are broken into categories to make it easier to find the phobias that may affect you. When we launched the site, we were focused on the most common phobias like heights, bugs, and reptiles. Our site has evolved over the years to include more than just phobias - we document other categories that contain topics that aren't related to phobias but could affect people in other ways. A list of all categories are listed below. All phobia categories have different color backgrounds while all non-phobia categories have a gray background.
Each movie will have an entry for each phobia or other category that include the category, rating, time, description, and sentence before.
The category was previously discussed and the rating will either be "caution" or "avoid", depending on the serverity of the issue.
A detailed description of the issue is also included as well as the sentence(s) that occurr before the issue.
The examples below are taken from the review of Bird Box:
